2025 Bye, Hello 2026
Just like that, 2025 has come and gone. We’ve stepped into a brand-new year, full of possibilities, responsibilities, and opportunities. One of the most important questions we must ask ourselves at the beginning of a new year is this: What will we do with it? And even more importantly, what will we carry into it?
Years pass quickly, and it is easy to let them come and go without intentional growth. But as believers, we are called not just to exist through the year, but to grow, to build, and to sustain habits and virtues that shape our lives, both physically and spiritually.
Very often, when a new year begins, our focus is drawn to the physical and material goals. We plan for the cars we want to buy, the houses we hope to own, the degrees we want to earn, or the weight we want to lose or gain. To achieve these goals, we intentionally develop habits such as going to the gym, saving money, learning new skills, or becoming more financially literate. And these things are not wrong, they are important.
However, just as we work on physical habits, we must be even more intentional about spiritual habits. Physical achievements may improve our quality of life, but spiritual habits sustain our souls. They draw us closer to Christ, anchor us in truth, and prepare us not just for this life, but for eternity.
As we journey through 2026, it is important to consider developing in this habits.
1. Faith in God’s Promises
Scripture:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
— Hebrews 11:1.
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised).” — Hebrews 10:23
It is not enough to pray without walking in faith. Prayer must be accompanied by a firm trust in the faithfulness of God. Faith requires that we remain confident in God’s promises, even when circumstances challenge what we see or feel.
The same God who carried you through 2025 is the God who will walk with you through every day of 2026. He has not changed. His promises remain true. Our responsibility is to stay in the realm of faith, refusing to allow doubt to overshadow what God has already spoken. 2026 will require exceptional faith. We’ve got this!
2. A Fervent Prayer Life
Scripture:
“Pray without ceasing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” — James 5:16
Prayer is not meant to be a seasonal activity or something we turn to only in moments of crisis. As we step into 2026, we must cultivate a consistent and passionate prayer life. There will be moments when it feels like prayers are unanswered or delayed. In those moments, do not withdraw, press in. When words fail, go into worship. Prayer is the key that opens doors, and worship and praise keep those doors open. Together, they are powerful tools that strengthen our faith and align our hearts with God’s will.
3. A Heart of Worship and Thanksgiving
Scripture:
“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” — John 4:24“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Worship is more than singing songs; it is a posture of the heart. A thankful and worshipful heart keeps us grounded, humble, and aware of God’s goodness, regardless of our circumstances. As you walk through 2026, choose gratitude. Thank God not only for what He has done, but for who He is. Thanksgiving shifts our focus from what we lack to the faithfulness of the One who provides.
4. Intimacy with God Through His Word
Scripture:
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” — Psalm 119:11“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16
True intimacy with God is built through time spent in His Word. The Bible is not just a book to read occasionally; it is a guide for daily living. When God’s Word lives in our hearts, it shapes our decisions, renews our minds, and strengthens us against temptation. In 2026, let us commit not just to reading the Word, but to living it.
5. Not Forsaking the Gathering of the Saints
Scripture:
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.” — Hebrews 10:24–25“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” — Matthew 18:20
Christianity was never meant to be lived in isolation. God places us in community so that we may draw strength from one another. Fellowship encourages us, corrects us, and helps us grow. As we move through this year, let us remain committed to gathering with fellow believers, worshipping together, praying together, and carrying one another through life’s challenges. There is strength in unity, and grace flows through community.
Walking Intentionally Into 2026
Scripture:
“Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” — Proverbs 16:3
As we embrace 2026, let us do so with intention. Let this not be a year that simply passes by, but one in which we build lasting spiritual habits and Christ-centered virtues. While physical goals are important, our spiritual growth must take priority, for it shapes every other area of our lives.
May this year find us deeper in faith, stronger in prayer, richer in worship, grounded in the Word, and connected in fellowship. If we walk faithfully with God, 2026 will not just be another year, it will be a year of growth, transformation, and purpose.
